Whales Watching in Samana Tour Details
- Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday.
- Approximate pick up time from your hotel or pick-up point: 6.30-7.00 a.m.
- Duration: 12 hours.
- What to bring: closed shoes, comfortable clothing, swimming suit, photo camera, sun protection cream, good mood.
- Please note that you need to take care of your breakfast in advance as the tour only includes lunch. We also recommend bringing water with you on the bus.
- For safety reasons, children under 10 years old should ride horses accompanied by an adult. From the age of 10, they are allowed to ride horses independently.
- Due to the physically demanding and challenging nature of the catamaran tour for whale watching, we want to emphasize that this excursion is not suitable for children under 4 years old.
- It is strictly prohibited to feed, touch, swim with, or throw anything at the whales. These actions may be subject to legal consequences under the laws of the Dominican Republic.
Please note that we will do everything possible to find the whales. We guarantee that you will see the backs or tails of the whales, but we cannot guarantee that the whales will breach out of the water!
- We’ll pick you up from your hotel in the Bavaro – Punta Cana area in a comfortable bus, driven by an experienced driver and accompanied by a multilingual guide and head to the port city Las Cañitas.
- Next, board the catamaran for the most exciting part of the tour: a sail to Samana Bay in search of humpback whales. Witness their spectacular mating dance and possibly see a whale calf. I fell in love with the whales! I had never thought they are so amazing and cute, although they are so enormous. We went to Samana in the beginning of March and this is the high period when you actually can see the whales in Dominican Republic. So that if you would like to have such an experience, plan well your vacation there.

We went in February watching whales in Samana. The excursion was perfect, everything was well organized. The boat was clean, the team was kind, experienced and very polite. We followed a whale mom and a calf for a while watching them diving. It was absolutely unreal.

It was really a perfect and great whale watching tour! We saw tens of whales in March. The Everythingpuntacana team organized a transfer from Punta Cana,The point was not so close, but the bus was comfortable, so that we didn’t feel fatigued. We saw huge whales, took maaaany cool pictures, had a traditional Dominican lunch, and then were dropped off at our apartment in Punta Cana in the evening. We absolutely enjoyed the excursion and recommend not to miss the opportunity to book it. But pay attention that the whale excursion period is strictly limited, cause these magnificent whales come to the north Dominican coastline in the months of January, February and March. Anyway, I recommend first of all to get in touch with the support, the guys react very fast. It was really a stunning experience that we’ll never forget.
